Abba Patio Fully Enclosed Garden Gazebo

I’m not gonna lie - we are LOVING our new Abba Patio Gazebo. For a few summers we have been using our enormous Abba Patio umbrella, and while it was easy to put up and take down, we still felt like we needed to do that every day because of the wind that can pick up in the area where we live. I’m not lazy, but we started talking about a more permanent shade solution as the summers seem to stretch later and hotter every year. We weren’t quite sold on the idea of a permanent wooden or fixed metal structure yet though. The Abba Patio Fully Enclosed Canopy with Mosquito Netting seemed a perfect fit for our backyard needs.

We were not financially compensated for this post and the sample were provided to us for review purposes. The opinions are completely our own based on our experience with the product.

Let’s start with setup – I will warn you - the box is somewhat heavy. We started with the assembly of the frame after a quick inventory of the box contents. All of the poles are clearly labeled with a number that corresponds to the written instructions. I did in fact use the instructions to see how things pieced together. It wasn’t challenging by any means, but there were so many pieces and I had several people “helping me” put it together, so it was easy to just holler “Pole 1 and 2 attach together, and there are 4 of those”. Had I done it myself, I probably could have figured it out, but it really was quite easy with the instructions.

Once we had the frame together, I have to admit, I had my doubts. It seemed pretty wobbly. Having owned several products from Abba Patio previously, however, I have never had a product that did not end up being better than I expected, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and was not disappointed. It was helpful to have 4 people helping get the canopy on the frame and then raised up to full height, with one person on each leg. you could do it with 2 easily as well, and while I COULD do it solo, I don’t know that I would want to if I didn’t have to. The quality of the canopy is what I have come to expect from Abba – durable and nice-looking fabric that does not feel flimsy at all. It is thick and durable feeling and you can tell is meant to last. If it is like their other products, we won’t have to worry about sun fading the fabric either.

Once the canopy was on, we stretched the leg covers down to the base of the poles. Attached to the inside corners of the gazebo canopy, they help keep the canopy structure stable in the wind, but they are also nice touch that makes the piece look finished and cover the legs. To me this feature, along with the netting, make this piece look leaps and bounds more sophisticated than an EZ up, although it really is almost just as easy to put up. Once the poles were together, I completely ditched the directions and did not have any problems figuring out how to secure the canopy to the poles. In addition to the leg covers, there are several bungy cord ties on the upper part of the frame.

There are a few ways to secure the Gazebo – I currently have tie downs at each of the four corners into the ground and plan to drill into the concrete once my wife decides on it’s final location in our yard. Once the tie downs were secure, the structure was very stable and I did not have any concerns about a gust of wind carrying it off down the road, even without the concrete screws.

The mosquito netting is separate from the gazebo – we didn’t attach it initially, but have since used it. It’s a great option to have! We don’t live in a particularly buggy area, but on a hot summer day, the netting does a great job of letting in the breeze but keeping out the flies during dinner. The weighted bottoms made them stay in place quite well. The panels of netting attach easily and can be removed or tied back to the legs when not in use. The netting is not flimsy at all – thick and giving the assurance of durability if the kids are pushing at it. It would take quite a bit to tear it, I think.

My favorite feature of this Gazebo though? The size….it is HUGE at 10x13 feet. We have two patio tables and chairs under it, but a large outdoor sofa, chairs and tables would easily fit under as well. It would also accommodate one of those big swing hammocks easily. We have a long, narrow backyard and it covers about a third of the space, providing adequate coverage for our large family gatherings.

The Gist – Overall, I am VERY pleased with the Abba Patio Fully Enclosed Garden Gazebo. I don’t think we are quite ready for a permanent wooden structure, so this has been a great way for us to try it out. It is certainly worth the price - the Abba Patio quality and durability that I have come to expect, a sturdy structure for our windy area, mosquito netting option, easy and fast setup and a really finished look.
